Phil Corlett

Associate Professor of Psychiatry

  • Ph.D. Cognitive Neuroscience, University of Cambridge, 2007
  • B.A. Natural Sciences, Experimental Psychology, 2002

For the past 20 years, Phil has been interested in the mind and brain, how they relate to one another and how those relations break down in serious mental illnesses like schizophrenia - giving rise to hallucinations and delusions. He has used functional neuroimaging, behavioral testing and computational modeling of behavior to build and test models of how these symptoms arise. He focuses on creative solutions to difficult problems and critical stress tests of accepted theories. He is an iconoclast with an appetite to build better and more veridical understanding of the processes that drive human behavior and brain function. He also collects Adidas sneakers and once met Jackie Chan.
