Associate Research Scientist

  • Ph.D. Clinical Neuroscience, Virje University Amsterdam (2017)

Hi! My name is Sarah Fan. I obtained my bachelor degree in psychology, master degree in cognitive neuroscience followed by a Ph.D. degree in clinical neuroscience. My essential research interest is how to best apply multimodal neuroimaging techniques (MRI/PET) to understand the neuropathology of psychiatric disorders. I started at Yale in the department of psychiatry as a postdoctoral trainee in 2017 with most of my research training focusing on stress and mood-related disorders (Bipolar Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Alcohol Use Disorder), I’ve joined the Belief Lab part-time since June, 2023 and expanding my knowledge in psychosis in Schizophrenia and through this research experience, I am hoping to develop studies that to investigate the common and distinct neural patterns in psychosis by trans-diagnostically comparing Schizophrenia, Stress and Mood-related disorders. In my free time, I love spending a lot of time with my two dogs exploring the Connecticut countryside =)
