Mission Statement

We are an interdisciplinary research group seeking to map mind to brain to understand cognition, perception, action, and belief.

By integrating concepts and methodologies from fields such as cognitive science, computational psychiatry, neuroscience, philosophy, and psychology, we explore the quantifiable principles that underlie human experience.

Incorporation of techniques and strategies of thought from various fields broadens the scope of our inquiries, and we firmly believe that consilience across disciplines and experimental models is not only attainable, but ultimately maximally beneficial.

Of particular interest to our group are delusions (false beliefs) and hallucinations (percepts without an external stimulus) — an understanding of which will improve diagnosis and treatment of mental health conditions (e.g., schizophrenia), as well as provide insights into the mechanisms of mental processes.

We acknowledge – and are deeply appreciative of – our collaborators, participants, and other community members whose experiences and ideas inspire us to propel our research forward.

Wu Tsai Groundbreaking Conference

On June 28, 2023 our lab celebrated the grand opening of a new facility sponsored by the Wu Tsai Institute, an interdisciplinary research center at Yale connecting neuroscience and data science to accelerate breakthroughs in understanding cognition. The Institute brings together labs across Yale to foster collaboration in achieving this endeavor. Our new offices will be adjacent to other labs working on cutting-edge research in robotics, genetics, and cellular neuroscience.
